Scientists at Bell Labs have made computer circuits that are so small the wires between the transistors can’t conduct electricity! They will be using quantum mechanics instead, obviously.

Ray has a super high altitude big flappy thing, uses carbon fibre spar, while John Mack is flying a double tandem wing flapper stacked up at about 30 ° to the horizontal.

Non scale R/C indoor and also park flier kits machines are BANNED, BANNED, BANNED, BANNED FROM OUR FUN FLY EVENTS, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. We will not accept any excuses from now on. If in doubt ask before you travel

Autumn Dates Sept 30th Oct 21st Nov 25th (Dec TBC)

Our flight chums on the south coast report having 70 spectators at their last event, they are not going to advertise their events for a while A chap from the New York Indoor fliers may come to our March 2000 event.

Bernard is on a diet, not because he is vane, but ’cos he doesn’t want to buy any new clothes as he won’t get 30 years use, like he did his green jacket. He has suggested old people should get a discount when flying at Oadby, what a good idea! Retired folks will pay £1.32 a night except folks who’s planes fly, as they obviously spend a lot of time on their models, so they have plenty of energy and should still be at work, they are obviously not worn out yet. Retired fliers who’s models don’t fly are obviously not trying hard enough, so they will be charged the full rate, for being idle.

Model Flyer has a photo of Geoff at Parklands but you can’t see him very well as Bernard is standing in the way fiddling with his Burnelli twin!

Good news! Mark is in perfect health and looks set to make it to his 40th Birthday, and there are 1,960 shopping hours to go!

Fraser has re-appeared, He can’t fly his Saab 340 at Oadby because it’s too heavy … 13 tones! Takes him ages to wind it up.

New indoor site in Devon! – see www.torbayflyingclub.ic24.net

The Ezone mag. Is asking folks to send in details of electric F/F machines, Andrew suggested we post them Bernard!

North west Leicester’s Groby Community College (pronounced Grooby) will be the venue for a new indoor flying event. Designed for the R/C park ARTF and stick type indoor R/C machines currently banned from the AeroNutz events. 150g weight limit, insurance is required, contact – Paul Gerrard

Aeromodeller have a nice article on a twin prop. single motor Wayfarer and using colour photo copying onto tissue. We tried gluing paper onto 2mm foam but the tissue could shrink if it dries, twisting the wing?

Flight Hook came and had a new simple foam kit from American, D/D electric, stick, F/F. They also stock the new 4g, 4 channel Potensky R/C Rx and the three new Potensky foam park fliers "Bomber" see - www.Potensky.cz

Ray and Geoff have bought the new GWS R/C Rx, 4g and £16 The aerial length was

shortened to about 16" and worked OK at max. range in an 8 badminton court hall.

Three cell flight - Mark reports that the new infra red,14" Stagger Wing, 36g, could be controlled from the other side of a 8 badminton court size hall when using the new Tx upgrade. The plane was reluctant to fly, but did manage two hops - a little more trimming and a suitably experienced pilot would help. However it looks a though it would fly in a docile manner for about 3 mins. A WES Technik 4.5 0.6 will be fitted, which will produce more thrust but reduce the flight time. The IR Rx + speed controller + 3g WES Tech. Servo and interconnecting wires weigh 4.5g. If you have good eyesight you can build the IR Rx and speedo from kits, for about £7 each. The two sensors can be remote mounted to catch the rays better. It is now flying, more details later …

One of David Deadman’s F/F models stalled! We all rushed for our cameras but it was too late. We thought maybe he is getting too old, but it turned out the nose weight fell off and went down the back end.

Mark’s 16" span R/C Albatross biplane finally took to the air following trouble with down thrust and C.G. Even without fully charging the 4 cells, she climbed out easily and did some very tight turns without loosing height - lots of power. Simon skimmed the beams for about two minutes on about half throttle, then the battery voltage dropped too low for the R/C gear and the rudder servo zoomed to full throw causing a very impressive flat spiral down from very high level – no damage and the servo centred when the cells where re charged. An easy way around this is to wire up the Z Tron speed controller’s own power supply to three of the four cells, so when it gets down to 2.7v and stops working the R/C gear will be getting 3.3v. BEC don’t get any lighter.

Ray has a super R/C twin motor D.H. Mosquito with servos. Model Flyer has an article about the Flying Styro F4U Corsair, for indoor and outdoor use, no we don’t have one with retracts, the Sea Fury has those.
