Aeronutz Plans and Datasheets

Sorry !

we are not supplying the planes these days

2005

We have drawn out plans for many of the planes we have made since we started the Aeronutz. We sell the plans to help pay for the hire of the leisure centre where we fly, as we generally don't break even on these costs.

Our aim with the plans is to act as a stepping stone to designing your own aircraft. After you have made a few models from plans, you will be able to design some of your own, we hope !

Start with something simple - and always take it with you as a restful back-up plane when your latest design is being a bit troublesome. Try a Jiglet, Power HIFI, Tango or GrooveJet.

Please note that we don't have credit card or fancy banking facilities. Please pay either by cash, or by cheques in £sterling made payable to South Leicester Aeronutz. For those of you in the USA most people just send us dollar bills as it's very expensive for us to bank US personal cheques, whereas with dollar bills we can wait until we have enough to make it worth changing them.

Plans for Aeroplanes

All of the following planes are made from 2mm insulation foam. The Power Hi-Fi, GrooveJet or Jiglet could also be made from thin Depron as they have flat sides. If you don't know how to make propellers or cockpits then you should also get the relevant datasheets.

NEW! Try using the new 115mm Dia white plastic prop from Flite Hook, about 75p each

Plan  Power Source Comments Cost
Groove Jet rubber, 40 to 50 thou Easy, stylish fun flyer, the notes with it are for a school project in aerodynamics or product design. Uses Dia. 115mm Ikara plastic prop. £3
Power Hi-Fi 7" rubber, 25 thou simple duration-style model, can be flown in the lounge (although we got 2 1/2 minutes in the Great Hall at Olympia). Includes instructions for propeller. £3
Jiglet 12" semiscale high wing monoplane  rubber, 40 - 50 thou (or capacitor) Ideal scale starter model, published in Aviation Modeller International. Can also be electric motor powered with a capacitor, although this is much harder to set up than the rubber version and you must have a CMS motor as you can't buy them now. Very detailed instructions - please specify if you want details of the electric version.
NEW! Use the new Ikara, 115mm Dia, white plastic prop from Flite Hook, about 75p each
£4
Vector/Tango 13" 70 -80 thou rubber Simple pylon wing duration model to use the Ikara Butterfly propeller (available from Flight Hook). Vector has diamond shape fuselage, Tango is rounded. Can fly outdoors on calm days £4
P51 Mustang 7" fighter  rubber, 25 thou More complex rounded shapes, but a good flyer. Published in Aeromodeller magazine £3
F4U Corsair 6" fighter rubber Requires skill to fly, and some parts need to be sanded to 1mm £3
Winglet flying wing pusher10" rubber Easy to make and surprisingly easy to trim but you must follow the instructions! £3
B25 Mitchell 9" twin rubber Yes, you have to wind up two motors, but it flies superbly £3
Albatross DVI biplane 6 1/4" rubber A bit more tricky to fly... £3
Flitzer biplane 10" rubber or capacitor  Good introduction to biplanes as it's big enough to be easy to trim. Published in Aviation Modeller International. Capacitor version a bit more tricky to set up but flies very well and consistently. Very detailed instructions.
NEW! Try using the new 115mm Dia white plastic prop from Flite Hook, about 75p each
£4
Lancaster 15 1/2" rubber Lots of cockpits and props, but simple design. Get an electric winder with counter to wind it up as it's critical on rubber motor turns £3
Mig 4" rubber Fun scale and can be set up to do a nice aerobatic routine, followed by square circles, and then a spiral descent. Well, that's what ours does. What does yours do? MIG1 £3
Minimoa Glider 14" gravity Very slow, fly it in the lounge or tow it with a Jiglet. Published in Quiet Flight International Magazine. £2
Tee-Tail Modern glider 15" gravity Ideal for towing behind the Jiglet, use a 1m length of cotton as a tow line. Published in Quiet Flight International. £1
SB13 17" modern flying wing glider gravity Good for learning how to trim a flying wing, I have also successfully towed-launched it with the Jiglet. Published in Quiet Flight International. £1
